ENTERTAINMENT

-

MUSIC lovers don’t have to be motorsport fans to enjoy one of the best Broadwater Sounds concert line-ups in Gold Coast 600 history.

The concerts will see Delta Goodrem, Daryl Braithwaite and DJ Trials play Broadwater Parklands tonight before the Hilltop Hoods join Violent Soho, Montaigne, Dean Lewis and DJ Trials under the stars tomorrow night.

While entry is free for sameday GC600 ticketholders and children under 12, tickets will be on sale at the gate for the first time this year if not sold out – for $51 (Friday) and $81 (Saturday).

The initiative is expected to help boost the race weekend box office.

The concerts are part of a range of entertainment offerings on the race weekend program both on and off track.

You don’t need a race ticket to see one of the highlights of the weekend – a handling display and flyover by an RAAF Hawk 127 aircraft.

The aircraft will blaze through the sky over the city between 10.10am and 10.20am today before it returns for a skills demonstration on Sunday (between 2.03pm and 2.09pm) and a final fly-past at 2.16pm as the pre-race rendition of the national anthem ends.

Fans can joins guest drivers and celebrities when they dine out at the annual Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Black and White lunch at the QT Resort today.

Crowds will also be able to enjoy the Miss Supercars National Final live and free in Cavill Mall in Surfers on Saturday night while the Classic Auto Art exhibition of historic motorsport art continues at the Left Bank Gallery in Southport until October 27.

The Flair Riders Show is also back for a dynamic demonstration in Ferny Avenue from Friday to Sunday. The show sees Australia’s top freestyle trials riders push their motorcycles and bicycles to their limits.

Just as thrilling, the popular Showtime Freestyle Moto X team daredevils are also back on track. The team, regarded as the most spectacular FMX outfit in Australia, will rev up crowds in between races on Saturday and Sunday.

Aussie Bandit, another crowd favourite, will show off his beast of a ute — it boasts a 1700 horsepower Chev V8 mounted in the tray — on Saturday and Sunday.

On-track party zone Club 600, on Macintosh Island, will feature DJ sets by homegrown stars including Brooke Evers (Saturday 5pm), The Twins (Friday 4pm), Jake Carmody (Sunday 3pm) and Kaitlyn

Entry to the on-track day club, located behind pit lane on Macintosh Island, is free for racegoers aged 18 and over.
