SPIRITUAL celebrations were held yesterday at Royal Pines Resort as members of the Australian Baha’i community enjoyed festivities to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the Baha’i Faith.

The bicentennial celebrations drew crowds of more than 2000 to the family day out which included live music, multicultural performances, unique community building activities and service projects.

Messages of congratulations on the bicentenary have come from the Governor-General, the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, and State Premiers and Opposition leaders.

The festival marked the first of two major celebrations for the faith.

Chairman of the local spiritual assembly Dr Shayan Ta’i said these holy days marked the happiest and most festive time for Baha’is.

“Our message is one of unity. We believe in the nobility of the human spirit, elimination of prejudice, equality of men and woman, and harmony of science and religion,” she said.
