Miss Supercars’ Olympic heartbreak

A former Olympic level gymnast whose shot at glory was dashed by back fractures has taken out this year’s Miss Supercars title. Darwin’s Sophie Budack, 23, won with Gold Coaster Michaela Arnott, 22, runner-up and Brisbane’s Nicole Hall, 26, second runner up. Ms Budack, an aspiring sports journalist who prior to Miss Supercars had never modelled, said she had entered to build confidence.

All Saints star dies aged 70

The Australian showbiz community is in mourning following the death of veteran actor Judith McGrath. Ms McGrath, best known for her Logie-nominated role as Yvonne “Von” Ryan in TV medical drama, All Saints, was 70. Industry stakeholde­rs and fans paid tribute to the late performer following a report from TV show Tonight on Sunday evening. “Her wonderfull­y dry wit was peerless. Vale is not enough,” wrote entertainm­ent reporter Craig Bennett on Facebook.
