Lauren Bath, of the Gold Coast, has created an enviable career for herself travelling far and wide and recording her journeys with unforgettable photographs that have a huge Instagram following

INSTAGRAMMER Lauren Bath documents the authentic spirit of the destinations she visits around the world through her social media accounts.

The Gold Coast resident was Australia’s first professional Instagrammer, after quitting her job as a chef.

Bath continues to lead the way on Instagram, with 465,000 followers, when it comes to travel and it is not hard to understand why she has never looked back after her career change.

But travelling full-time for the past six years has been more than a job for Bath, it has changed who she is as a person and the way she views the world.

“I’ve learned to be a better person,” she said. “I’m a lot less selfish than I used to be and a lot more open minded. I have a deeper understanding of the

human condition and the planet. Even if you don’t want to do the exact job that I do, my best lesson would be to treat all people equally, from serving staff to Uber drivers to potential clients.

“We’re all human and we’re all flawed so don’t make someone’s day worse than it needs to be.”

Bath told Inspire the two best parts of her job were meeting new people and exploring different places.

And in 2018 she is set to explore Greenland, Croatia, Vanuatu and Turkey, among other destinations that will pop up throughout her working year.

“Although the work is a lot harder than people realise, it’s also so meaningful to me and I wouldn’t have my life any other way,” she said.

Bath also runs The Travel Bootcamp, which teaches people how to get paid to travel, with her business partner and travel writer Georgia Rickard and travel blogger (Elizabeth Carlson, Young Adventuress).

“Since I’ve always liked to help people, and I’ve been frustrated by not being able to help enough, this conference has given me the platform to pass along my skills and knowledge in a deeply meaningful way,” Bath said.
