WALKING DEAD TO HIT STREETS OF SURFERS PARADISE
ZOMBIES, ghosts and ghouls will stagger down the Glitter Strip after the Coast secured a five-year deal to host the annual Zombie Walk and Wake Weekend.
Surfers Paradise is officially the new home of the popular event, which has previously been held in Brisbane. The Walk, which attracts thousands of people, will form part of a new threeday Halloween-inspired festival and celebration.
Covered in grease-based paint, dark eyeshadow and special effects makeup, Robina’s Aisa Rodgers will join her fellow “undead” in the walk, which will also raise awareness and funds to support the Brain Foundation of Australia.
“It sounds so awesome, and something really different for the Coast,” she said. “I heard of it when it was held in Brisbane and it definitely looked like something interesting, so I’m really looking forward to taking part next year.
“It’s really fun to organise all the outfits and get dressed up with all the makeup.
“It takes hours to achieve the right look, but it’s definitely worth it.”
The Zombie Walk is an organised public gathering of people who dress up in zombie costumes, with participants limping their way around the city streets.
The Surfers Paradise Alliance has secured a five-year deal with organisers RMW Entertainment, beginning in October 2018.
