Man hurt in boozy fight

A 46-YEAR-OLD man has been charged after an alleged alcohol-fuelled attack at a Nerang park left another man with head injuries on Saturday.

Police allege a 51-year-old man and the 46-year-old man, who are known to each other, became involved in a physical altercation at a park on Cayuga St just after 4pm.

It is believed the pair were drinking in the park together.

The 51-year-old was struck a number of times before he fell to the ground and hit his head, police said.

He was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 46-year-old Nerang man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and is expected to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court today.
