Lynn’s huge bat hit for six
CHRIS Lynn has been forced to retire the cricket bat that hit a ball into orbit at the Gabba.
New rules introduced this month have barred cricket’s biggest bats, including the massive wide-edged blades used by Lynn and fellow six hitter David Warner, who are both signed to Gray-Nicolls. The rules decree the maximum dimensions should be 108mm in width, 67mm in depth and 40mm edges.
Warner has already transitioned down from a bat that was 18mm deeper than the new laws allow and Lynn will follow suit when he returns from a shoulder injury.
Lynn last summer used one of his Big Boppers to thump one of the most remarkable sixes ever seen at the Gabba, a 124m corker that went over the western grandstand and landed in the practice nets.
Lynn did not agree with the new laws but he is confident his six-hitting potency will not be hurt with a lighter blade.
