Herfoss powers on to title
TWO-TIME Australian Superbike Championship winner Troy Herfoss has shown he is just as good on two wheels without an engine.
Herfoss won yesterday’s 30-35 years road race at Cycling Australia’s Masters National Titles at Currumbin on the same course to be used for the Commonwealth Games.
It came a fortnight after Herfoss narrowly missed a third straight Australian Superbike title, with mechanical problems in the final round at Phillip Island consigning him to a third-place finish.
An injury to the 30-year-old from Varsity Lakes eight years ago spawned his cycling love.
“I couldn’t race for a few months and didn’t want to lose any fitness so I bought a push bike,” Herfoss said.
Herfoss was also named the champion of champions following the three-day national championships after winning Friday’s time-trial.
