Gold Coast residents are paying almost $2000 for power while small businesses face costs of $2550 after increases of more than four per cent. Bills have been on an upward spiral for years.

Our retirees have worked to make the Gold Coast and Queensland what it is today and deserve better. Many are risking their health by sitting in sweltering heat without turning on coolers just to keep a roof over their head.

Political parties need to outline plans for new infrastruc­ture to ensure power blackouts and skyrocketi­ng bills do not combine to create summer shockers for Coast householde­rs.
