COMMITMENT: GUARANTEES FROM ALL PARTIES FOR UP TO 50 MORE POLICE TO COMBAT RISING CRIME

Coast MPs, the Police Union and cops on the beat agree that 50 extra police is the solution. Labor last week told the Bulletin it would recruit 44 more cops for the region.

Coomera police station should again have district status — providing it with autonomy and senior officers.

•Corrective Services needs more resourcing to arrest the growing trend of criminals being allowed to stay on our streets because our jails are overcrowde­d and there is no room for them in custody. Money must also be dedicated to the Crime and Corruption Commission and bikie fighting units to keep the foot on the throats of gangs.
