Uncertainty over Williams

SERENA Williams is “highly unlikely” to come back to tennis at the Brisbane International, event director Geoff Quinlan says after receiving feedback from her management.

Williams’ intended January schedule remains unclear, except that Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley said last month he understood the 23-time major winner would be in the field to defend her title in Melbourne.

Williams, 36, became a first-time mother in September.
