PIN BAR’S THE SPOT TO BE FOR TAILOR, JACKS

THERE are still a few tailor in the gutters off South Stradbroke Island as well as in the Pin bar.

Sand crabs have been really prolific since the rain so definitely worth putting your pots out.

The Coomera River has produced some great quality Mangrove Jacks as they love the heat and storms we have experienced, and try the sandbanks around the Pin for nice eating whiting either using beach worms or surface popper lures.

TIME TO BUST THE TILAPIA AS RAIN EASES FOR FISHING

AFTER a recent run of terrible conditions we have finally had some decent weather for freshwater fishing and the bass have been biting well in both the upper reaches of the Nerang and Coomera rivers.

Unfortunately there is still heaps of Tilapia being caught just about everywhere, but don’t forget the Tilapia Busters tournament on tomorrow at Robina.

REEF DELIVERS SNAPPER – USE LIVE BAITING

THE great news is you don’t have to go far offshore to get into the snapper; the 18 fathom reef has produced heaps this week. There is plenty of bait around at the moment so live baiting is a good option.

Out wider at the 50 fathom reef there have been some big pearl perch and Kingys caught.

In deep water of 200-plus there are some big blue marlin being tagged and released as well as the off Mahi Mahi.

DOLPHINS BY BOATFUL AT TWEED HEADS

GREAT news for those of us who love dolphin fish: I have good reports of the wave rider buoy off Tweed Heads holding large numbers during the week.

Position your boat so you can float a pilly back towards the buoy and hold on. Nine Mile is worth dropping a live bait on for big Kingys, and there is still tailor being caught in the Tweed River on dusk and dawn.
