Kmart race day hack goes viral

When Brenda Trimboli posted a picture of her latest fashion hack on the Kmart Mums Australia Facebook page she had no idea 19,000 people would respond overnight. “I saw this dress at my local Kmart and loved the colour, but it was a bit too short for me. So I took two dresses ... and tried one on and then flipped the other one upside down and stepped into it with the frill on the bottom. That’s when the idea popped into my head to make it into a matching skirt,” she said.

Radio star takes special teen to formal

A Gold Coast radio host has made a young boy’s dream come true after she went to his formal as his date. Emily-Jade O’Keefe of Hot Tomato received an on-air call from Cooper, a special needs teen at Mudgeeraba Special School, asking her to his senior formal. “Cooper called up the station which took a lot of guts,” she said.

Poor Koojo’s now been abandoned twice

Sweet three-legged Gold Coast dog Koojo was given away two years ago, then dumped in a park with a broken leg after suspected cruelty. She underwent the trauma of having her leg amputated before being reunited with her original owners. But she’s now found herself at a Gold Coast animal shelter. The Stapylton Gold Coast City Pound received Koojo, a female border collie, through its doors as a stray just under a month ago.

High act of stupidity for selfies

Two teens who climbed a construction crane in order to take selfies of themselves about 50m above Cairns’ city centre have been cautioned by police. The 14 and 15-year-olds, believed to be locals, trespassed on to the building site of the twin towers hotel project and climbed up the crane, past the operating booth, and out on to the hoist.
