DOMINANT FORCE IN CONTROL

- TOM BOSWELL

ONLY the elements have been able to slow down Mudgeeraba Nerang, as they continue their dominant start to the Cricket Gold Coast season.

Mudgeeraba Nerang looked on track for a big total against Palm Beach Currumbin when they sat comfortably at 2/80 after 20 overs.

However, they failed to go on with it as they battled to set 172 runs. Dayne Siede (51 runs) and Nathan Edwards (40 runs) were their best batsmen.

It proved to be more than enough though with a strong bowling display preventing Palm Beach Currumbin from getting within reach, finishing 8/112 from 40 overs.

“We had a great start but fell away through the middle stages,” Mudgeeraba Nerang coach Ross Wallace said.

“But to be quite honest we bowled pretty bloody well.”

Paul Atkinson topped the bowling with 3/31 while Matthew Phillips (2/10), Matthew Grant (1/20) and Mackenzie Barclay (1/30) also contributed to a well-rounded Mudgeeraba bowling attack.

Mudgeeraba Nerang sit in the top four with three wins, a draw and two losses due to bad light and wet weather.

“We are happy with where we are,” Wallace said.
