An obsession with graveyards and “dark things” set a teenager on a macabre path which led her to murder her grandfather Robert Whitwell, 81. Brittney Dwyer calmly washed dishes while Mr Whitwell, slowly bled to death at his Adelaide home in August, 2016. Outside in a car, Dwyer’s accomplice Bernadette Burns sat, sending text messages prompting Dwyer to “harden up” and commit murder.
Man jailed for sending strippers next door
A US man who repeatedly ordered prostitutes to show up on his neighbour’s porch in Nebraska has been jailed for four years. Douglas Goldsberry reportedly asked the women to strip on the neighbour’s porch late at night or early in the morning while he watched from his kitchen. He did this about 30 times a year for four years.
Jetski rescue: ‘I feel like I’m dying’
A jetskier feared for his life as he was sucked out to sea in a rip off South Stradbroke Island before he was rescued by the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter on Sunday. Liam Gravatt, 21, was winched to safety by the helicopter after he panicked and inhaled water. With mate Joel Howell, 22, Mr Gravatt jumped from their craft to avoid being smashed by strong swell at about 2.30pm.
Man cleared over death of burglar
A man cleared over the death of a burglar says he would not hesitate to intervene and protect others again. Russell Harrison has spoken publicly for the first time after enduring a 22-month legal ordeal since his struggle with Adam Slomczewski ended with the intruder’s death. Victoria’s State Coroner Sara Hinchey found Slomczewski died from “cardiac arrhythmia in the setting of struggle, neck compression and amphetamine use”.
