Morgan’s keen to build chemistry

-

MICHAEL Morgan has asked for more time to build some attacking chemistry as the Kangaroos head towards the business end of the Rugby League World Cup.

Morgan could be rested for Saturday’s final pool clash with Lebanon after appearing in the opening two Test wins over England and France.

Playmakers James Maloney and Ben Hunt are also all but certain to get their first hitouts of the tournament after being granted leave to miss the French victory. Both players rejoined their teammates in Sydney yesterday.

Morgan became the latest player to state his case against being rested as the world No.1 nation continue to figure out life after Johnathan Thurston.

However, the North Queensland star admits coach Mal Meninga is likely to give him a spell when he names his team to take on the Cedars.

“If he asks me what I’d rather do, then I’ll say I’d rather play. I’ll be honest and say that,” Morgan said.

“But I’ll understand if I don’t as well. He said to us at the start of the camp that everyone would have a good run before we went into any semi-final-type game.

“Hopefully I get a chance to play but if not, I’ll understand.”

Morgan is adamant there is plenty of improvement to make in attack and defence.
