Pisasale ‘ripped-off charities’
DISGRACED former Ipswich mayor Paul Pisasale is accused of ripping off charities to the tune of more than $60,000 in new allegations before court.
Pisasale allegedly took tools valued at more than $51,000 that were supposed to go to the Men’s Shed, and pocketed a $10,000 cheque in 2013 intended for an unnamed charity.
The allegations are contained in documentation for six charges laid against Pisasale last month, which include corruption, fraud, perjury and possession of Viagra.
The 65-year-old appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday and said afterwards it was a “tough” time, but his health had improved since he stood down in June.
The charges are in addition to extortion, assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice allegations levelled against Pisasale earlier this year, which he has said he will defend.
