Marriage is healing

-

BEING happily married could help to heal wounds faster, Ohio State University College of Medicine researchers say.

In its study, couples who had been married for up to 52 years had a small wound inflicted on them while their levels of the stress hormone cortisol were measured. They then had a 20-minute discussion about marital problems.

Cortisol levels and wound healing were monitored for 32 days afterwards. High cortisol levels have been linked to slow healing, and the study found those who had positive thoughts after the talk, did heal faster.
