known to morning.

The victim was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious, but stable condition, suffering a wound to the side of his stomach.

Another man, 25, was stabbed multiple times in James Overall Park around 7.20pm the night before.

The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries and police are continuing to investigate.

In at least three of the five recent stabbings the victim was known to the offender, while two are still under investigation.

Acting Supt Baade said most stabbings tended to be between people known to each other.

“I’d say the majority of perpetrators and victims are known to each other,” he said, adding a percentage of woundings on the Coast were domestic-violence related.

“There aren’t many random attacks ... The Gold Coast is a safe place, I don’t think (stabbings are) an issue (for the general public), you’ll find it happens across society.”

Mr Goldsworthy said while domestic violence stabbings were always concerning, random attacks were much harder for cops to police.

“It’s difficult to police against it in the streets,” he said. her yesterday
