THAT’S A BIG STRETCH

-

A 45-kilometre stretch of fibre-optic cable is being rolled out across the Gold Coast ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

In an Australian first, the City of Gold Coast is installing its own $5.5 million digital network to live-stream events during the Games.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said the network would also link 550 security cameras to be used to monitor public safety.

“The network already stretches from the Health and Knowledge Precinct in the north, through Southport and Surfers Paradise and south to Broadbeach,” he said.
