GOALS Australia’s “amazing little journey” at Carrara is set to go global.

Such has been the rapid growth of the revamped multisports facility, Friday’s start of the inaugural indoor soccer “World Cup” is tipped to attract more than 30 teams.

Since opening four modified courts in September, the Alabaster Drive base is now running at 75 per cent of player capacity.

Men’s, women’s and junior leagues run every night of the week, prompting the formation of a “World Cup” across the over-35s, 45s and 55s ages.

As part of the tournament, which offers cash prizes to winners and runs until December 16, entrants have nominated their nation of heritage and will play under that banner in a competition likened to cricket’s Twenty20 format.

Goals Australia manager/ owner Cameron Watson predicted 16 teams to line up in the over-35s age division.
