Slice of new technology

PICTURE-PERFECT pizza thanks to artificial technology is the latest eyebrow-raising initiative on the Domino’s menu.

The company unveiled the “DRU AI Pizza Checker” at its annual general meeting yesterday, which does scans of cooked pizzas from above for an automated quality check, before they are sold to customers.

Chief executive Don Meij said it would tackle the company’s biggest customer complaints – that their pizza doesn’t look as good as it does in the pictures, or that there are missing pizza toppings.

“We have one at the moment in our Hamilton store – it’s been there for a number of months, learning about what’s right and what’s wrong with the different pizzas,” he said.
