Helicopter four saved
FOUR people on board a helicopter that ditched into waters near Hayman Island in the Whitsundays yesterday were rescued unscathed.
Paramedics and search teams were sent to Hook Reef, about 25km north of the holiday hotspot, about 3.30pm following reports a chopper had gone down.
An Australian Maritime Safety Authority spokesman said the helicopter ditched into the water “in a controlled way” and was sitting upright when it was located.
Four people were picked up and no injuries were reported.
