Celebrity chef dies

CELEBRITY chef, restaurate­ur, author and TV presenter Antonio Carluccio has died.

Known as the “Godfather of Italian cuisine”, Carluccio was famous for taking the “cucina povera” of his youth to London in the 1980s, which grew into a chain of more than 100 restaurant­s.

No stranger to Australia, Carluccio, 80, was most recently Down Under in March for the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.

The author of 25 cookbooks, Carluccio starred in television programs including Two Greedy Italians and Carluccio’s 6 Seasons, where he explored Australian indigenous cuisine.
