ENTER THE GALLIC BOOK OF RECORDS

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND

IF you’ve been itching to be part of a world record, now’s your chance.

All you need is a beret and a little joie de vivre.

The Gold Coast Bonjour French Festival is looking for 2500 Francophiles to create a world record for most people wearing a beret.

“There is no record, Guinness World Records told us the starting point is 2500 people,” event co-ordinator Audrey Mates-Bills said.

“It’s still achievable, but a challenge. We’ve got to aim high, right?”

Ms Mates-Bills said more than 10,000 people would be coming to the festival, which starts today and runs until Sunday at Pratten Park in Broadbeach.

She said there was free entry for those coming before 10.30am and berets would be available for $5 on the day.

“There’s no age limit,” she said. “Even children can take part.”
