Gollan after change of luck with filly

- MARK OBERHARDT

TRAINER Tony Gollan hopes it will be a case of third time lucky for his smart filly Miss Exfactor as he attempts to get her to the races tomorrow.

The three-year-old was due to run at the past two Saturday city meetings as a lead-up to a Magic Millions carnival campaign on the Gold Coast in January.

Instead she will have her first start in a month in the Broncos Superstore Handicap (1200m) at Doomben.

Miss Exfactor hasn’t run since leading all the way to win over 1200m at the Gold Coast on October 7.

Gollan said the delays had not been ideal because he now had to run Miss Exfactor at 1200m when he had intended to step her up to 1350m.

“But Miss Exfactor needs to run and I will not make up my mind about a future campaign until after it,” Gollan said. “Fingers and toes crossed as surely she can’t have more bad luck.

“The first time her race got washed out. Then the track was so hard I scratched her.

“Provided the track isn’t too hard she will run at Doomben. It was a lot softer on Tuesday.”

Gollan is considering whether to press on to the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) or look further afield.

“There are races for her in the autumn and winter so there is no hurry,” he said.
