Volunteer uniforms for all ‘Shapers’

-

THOUSANDS of Commonwealth Games volunteers have reported for their first day of duty to be told they have a new name – Games Shapers.

GOLDOC hosted its Workforce Orientation Weekend at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, with about 4500 staff, volunteers and contractors attending each of the three “full house’’ sessions across two days.

As well getting their first look at the uniforms they will wear during next year’s event, it was revealed the workforce will collectively be known as Games Shapers.

“GC2018 is our Games and we will shape an unforgettable experience for everyone,” their mission reads.

The uniform was designed by Hard Yakka, with the company producing more than 200,000 pieces of clothing.

Volunteer engagement manager Mat Rogers said the uniforms were “very Gold Coast”.
