The man who should be Samoa’s equivalent of Tonga’s Jason Taumalolo is “desperate” to live up to his potential on Friday night against several of his Maroons teammates.

The error-prone Samoans have brought it on themselves and threaten to bow out of the tournament unless things change fast.

“I don’t think I’ve played good footy this whole comp yet and I’m pretty desperate to play a good game,” Papalii said.

“It’s hard to do something with the ball when we’re defending the whole time. We’ve got to improve heaps before we meet the Aussies.”
