Leaders missing from view

- PAUL WESTON AND LEA EMERY

NEITHER the Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk or Opposition Leader Tim Nicholls are featuring in pre-polling placards.

A tour of the northern voting centres as pre-polling opened yesterday showed the Coast candidates were focused on promoting themselves.

Only Bonney’s Rowan Holzberger had a single corflute of the Premier next to his own at the booth opposite Harbour Town.

The only appearance of Mr Nicholls in advertising was a union poster with the headline “It’ll be grim under Tim”.

But Gaven LNP Sid Cramp, who was campaigning at the Nerang booth, ridiculed suggestions candidates were trying to hide the leader. “I’m quite proud that Tim is our leader,” Mr Cramp said. “He’s doing a really great job. I think he’ll make a great Premier.”

The start of voting yesterday revealed preference allocations with the LNP in Gaven and Bonney putting the Greens last on their how-to-vote cards.

One Nation will be preferencing the Labor Party ahead of the LNP in the safe LNP
