Woman, 51, dies of head wounds

A mother-of-three was killed in a “brutal” attack on a Worongary street on Sunday in what police are describing as an alleged domestic violence attack. The body of the 51-year-old woman – believed to be named Kym – was found with serious head injuries on Arthur Payne Court at about 11.15pm. Her estranged husband was found in nearby bushland with injuries.

Mayor reveals shock diagnosis

Nothing prepared Tom Tate for the moment he was told he had bowel cancer. “There was a moment of disbelief because I hadn’t felt any symptoms and I said to the doctor, you have got to be kidding me,” the 58-yearold told the Bulletin. “I’ve known plenty of guys who have had bowel cancer over the years. I never thought I would be one of them. The lesson from this is if I had left getting checked for another year I’d be walking around with a colostomy bag.”

Man dies in tragic trail bike crash

A man died after colliding with a tree in a high-speed trail bike accident in bushland at Coomera on Sunday. The accident occurred just before 6pm in bushland off South Cunningham Drv North. Several paramedic crews and police rushed to the scene, where they performed CPR on the man. Despite the crews’ best efforts the rider could not be saved. The forensic crash unit attended and is investigat­ing the crash.

Alleged rape victim, 3, remains in hospital

A three-year-old girl who was left in a critical condition after she was allegedly tortured and raped by her mother’s partner in Capalaba has been moved to Lady Cilento Hospital. The girl was taken to Redlands Hospital about 8pm on Thursday suffering serious injuries to her head, arm and legs.
