Car thieves driving push on security

-

PALM Beach police are working with local detectives and Volunteers in Policing to raise awareness around crime prevention.

Latest crime trends show thieves are targeting car keys and cars when they break into houses. Police have revealed offences like these are more frequently occurring when people are at home.

Residents are being encouraged to take advantage of free home security audits conducted by Gold Coast Volunteers in Policing.

Senior Constable Kurt Foessel said there were steps people could take to safeguard themselves and their property.

These include: secure your home, secure your keys, secure your car, get a free home security audit, record and mark your valuables, find a secure place for your car keys, report suspicious activity, and join your local Neighbourhood Watch group.

Members of the public can also access crime prevention information on the QPS website.
