More than just a meal...

Meals on Wheels is a local group of caring volunteers and part of a world-wide service to provide home delivered meals to frail aged persons, younger people with disabilities and their carers so that they may remain healthy and secure in their home, reducing the risk of premature or inappropriate institutionalisation.

Volunteers are the foundation of Meals on Wheels which enable the local branches to run effective Meals on Wheels Services all over Australia. It’s a service that not only endeavours to meet the dietary needs of its clients but also offers friendship and assistance.

The services are made possible because of the many caring and supportive volunteers who come back day after day, week after week and even year after year. Meals on Wheels funding also comes from clients’ meal payments, government subsidies through Home and Community Care Programs, private donations and other support such as grants and donations of goods or money by local businesses and community groups or clubs.

The Because We Care program supports Meals on Wheels directly in Southport, Broadbeach, Paradise Point and Palm Beach by providing local newspapers to clients funded by sponsorship from community minded businesses.
