MAGIC MOMENT AS TWINS MEET PUPPY

- EMILY SELLECK

THIS is the heartwarming moment a Gold Coast girl with Cerebral Palsy is surprised by the Starlight Foundation.

While some kids wish for elaborate holidays and celebrity encounters, little Cienna Valeri, 8, only wanted one thing.

“I wished for a puppy,” she said. “And I got Holly, she’s a golden cocker spaniel and she’s really cute.”

Both Cienna and her twin sister Charlotte suffer developmental delays and anxiety as a result of their illness, and are regulars at Brisbane’s Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.

But their new little fur ball, inspired by Cienna’s favourite movie Lady and the Tramp, will brighten up difficult days for the pair who are in Year 2 at Pimpama State School.

Mum Vanessa, who is their full-time carer, said Cienna was “totally surprised” when she met the pup for the first time yesterday afternoon.

Ms Valeri said Cienna had recently endured a major surgery to strengthen her leg muscles, meaning she had to relearn how to walk.

“Her initial diagnosis was that she would never walk,” she said.
