FESTIVALS LINE UP IN EXCITING TALENT DISPLAY

- PETER BEATTIE

AS you’ll read on these pages, the past week has been a very busy one at GOLDOC with the announcement of Festival 2018’s alignment with the city’s iconic Bleach* Festival and the establishment of the Queensland Music Stage that will showcase the best local musical talent every day of GC2018.

Both announcements boost the Festival 2018 offerings considerably.

By any measure it is set to become the largest arts and culture festival ever seen on the Gold Coast, paving the way for a great legacy in an area that contributes enormously to the diversity and attraction of this destination.

We also presented more than $360,000 to the Gold Coast Community Fund, the proceeds of our recent GC2018 Charity Gala and a tremendous demonstration of just how generous the Gold Coast community really is.

And now, with just over four months to go until the GC2018 April 4 Opening Ceremony, it’s time for everyone to think seriously about their ticket purchases to avoid missing out on being in the stands for the largest event ever in Queensland’s history.

After identifying an additional allocation of 100,000 tickets, a total of 300,000 tickets are now available to everyone on a first-come, first-served basis.

Since the remaining tickets went on sale on Monday the uptake has been fantastic, so the simple message is to get in fast to secure your seats before they sell out.

Remember that every ticket entitles the holder to free event-day public transport and I can assure you that every patron will enjoy a smooth, complete and exciting spectator experience.

Thank you for continuing to Share the Dream of GC2018.

IT IS SET TO BECOME THE LARGEST ARTS AND CULTURE FESTIVAL EVER SEEN ON THE GOLD COAST

More than 15,000 Games Shapers will be the heart and soul of GC2018 creating an unforgettable and Jimbelung (friendly) experience for athletes, fans and visitors.

Consisting of volunteers, staff and contractors, the Games Shapers brand was unveiled as part of the recent Workforce Orientation Weekend.

This committed group of individuals will be proud, vibrant, committed, friendly and will receive a combined 360,000 hours of training in venue, role and customer service from TAFE Queensland.
