Halfway through my schoolies and already broke. Be great if the government gave us a stimulus package to help with drivers licence, cars, hotel accommodation and more booze. People keep telling me it’s the best time of my life but the financial pressure is overwhelming. Luckily Gran is driving down from Toowoomba to give me another $1k. Thanks Gran you’re the best. – David

A schoolie attendant stopped me and said sorry you’re a bit old to enter precinct. I said but I failed Year 12 four times.

M1 is no longer a highway more a commuter road so slow it down to improve traffic flow & I’m sure thousands of residents along the length would appreciate reduction in noise levels. What is needed more is not M2 to Staplyton but Pacific Highway bypass inland to relieve congestion. – Jackster

Most political candidates are only chasing the dream of “set for life.” – Barney

Re. Kate Jones article (GCB, 20/11). She says she and her government are for the Gold Coast and will always back us. They have left the Gold Coast Show high and dry. No care for the actual community. Shame. – Gold coaster born and bred

Nice to see the education of maths working well 28 schoolies in a lift that carries 12! What no one had a calculator? – TZ

This Saturday when voting, don’t forget, it was do-nuthin’ Annastacia, who stopped the tens of thousands of jobs that would have been created by the GC CST and ASF’s Spit developments etc.

One of the many great things New Zealand did was start Kiwi Bank. Low cost banking and low cost mortgages. Massive success. I was wondering about the SSM couples who adopt children. How they will handle the question when asked where is my mummy or my daddy. I would love to hear some of the answers. – TC

SSM question. When divorce happens which one gets the house and kids?

I was walking down the street and a friend coming the other way said ‘mate, it’s all blocked up there ahead you best go the long way’. So, I asked is it roadworks again? He said ‘no it’s people handing out how to vote cards’.

Now the SSM vote is over and equality reached business owners should be delighted. They can lower male wages down to female wage levels and put more in their pockets. – Mick

The postal state election vote forms may be illegal. As they are breaking privacy information laws by having another person view your vote and sign as a witness. All postal votes could be contested as void.

Considering all the promises the candidates are throwing at us, here is my promise to them: any of you that have supporters waving to me from the roadside will not be getting my vote. News of supersonic train to go between Brisbane and Gold Coast. Why does media present us with so many silly ideas? People currently in charge of public transport can’t even get those hopeless trams to run trouble-free for more than few days. Just stop selling us your silly dreams!

One would think soft sentences alone would be more than enough to expel the loony left, apart from ballooning debt etc, but short memories keeps them in. – A

Ridiculous having to number each box, only 3 of 7 state on the ballot paper who they represent. I could have been voting for the Gun Lobby or ISIS Freedom Party ..... it’s just stupid and undemocratic.

Why do we keep allowing people into our country who want to kill us. Seems a bit stupid to me. – Shezz

Schoolies in my day was a game of two up and a bush dance. Today they’re smoking the devils lettuce, fighting the cops and drinking the demon juice. Take me back to the forties any day. - Len

Ah yes, Kiwis get beat and backstabbing starts. By their own kind. Hahaha little Kiwis are havin a cry.

A monorail along the M1 motorway both sides to Brisbane and coastal areas. Would help stop congestion without building a costly expensive and disruptive new traffic lanes nightmare. – Lawrie

I remember when Peter Beattie was premier he said power prices will not go up when we privatise. What a croc and on he goes with the big dollar gigs. – Kenny

Hey ex Kiwi, you are what is wrong with New Zealand. You are so chopped down in your new land that you hate your own people. You’re being very weak for bagging your own land. That’s traitorous. – GW

Lovely pic of St Hilda’s girls rowers. (Inspire, 21/11) Healthy, active and vibrant. Go girls!

Schoolies highlights just how pathetic we are as a nation. The hypocrisy of the event itself and our police is just shameful. Wake up and smell the schoolie. It’s really on the nose. – Peter

Rego prices need to come down. NZ motorists pay around 60 per 6mths. Qld rego way overpriced. – BJ
