My wife works in aged care, she came home last week there were people there to take their votes. Most wanted to vote One Nation but were told they couldn’t because there was no candidate. Is this right?

Perhaps politicians wages should be capped at four times the minimum wage, then we will see wages go up. – Chopper

Voting should not be compulsory. Whoever feels like voting, let them do so. Those who do not, usually have a different views on life and often far from politics. I pre-voted yesterday, simply putting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 at random. I love my country but not interested in politics. Do votes like mine help with obtaining objective results?

Noel, the World Rugby Rankings are New Zealand 1, England 2, Australia 3.

Can’t believe the people in the ChatRoom with such high electricity bills. Why don’t they shop around and get the best deal? My husband and I pay under $400 a quarter and we have a pool.

Dear Fuddy, sick of Xmas carols – it was terrible as a child, just as bad now. – JC

Maybe the fluoride believers have had their eyes opened after the report that tooth decay in children is at its highest rate ever. But how could that be? We have fluoride in our water. That should be preventing decay. – Laraine

Worked at schoolies the other night It was great to see hardly any were smoking. The message is finally getting through to people. – O1

Sledging: cricketers, footballers and society frown upon it, so why do we have to suffer sledging in our pollies? Ban sledging from campaigning and then pollies would have to concentrate on what they are to do for Oz. –.BM

If u can’t handle on line abuse u have no chance in real life grow a back bone.

What a beat up re electricity prices. Our biggest quarterly bill was $300 and over summer will be about $150. That’s for a family of four in a 5 bedroom house. – Grey

People complaining about online abuse, grow up it’s just a screen, words can’t hurt. Isn’t that what u told ur kids in school? – Josh

My apartment is on bottom floor of highrise in Surfers. It has an extended balcony set out from all the balconies above. Should see what I have had to clean up each morning from the schoolies above.

Thanks kids for not vomiting on me while I do it. – Beryl

In a SSM if the two ladies divorce do they both get 70%? Just asking. – Separated Dad

How lucky are we that those who claim they can tell water quality of Black Swan Lake by looking at it are not in charge of our water supply. – Rocket

We have parliamentary people who don’t know where they come from! And they surely don’t know where they are going. – D James

Rugby Union is the Kiwis’ national game; pity they are not that good at Rugby League. Fact: If Rugby Union was Australia’s national game, we would flog the All Blacks day in, day out!

Have never seen one cop pull over one moped to breath test or MDT. Are there any police in Surfers?

Plans by GCCC to slowly suffocate Black Swan Lake with truckloads of soil and let evaporation finish the job demonstrates the sadistic sorts running this city. – GC Local Every ones complaining about the cost of electricity what about the cost of water as well. – Bush basher

It is so stupid, thousands of Gold Coasters use the M1 daily to work in Brisbane while thousands travel down from Brisbane to work on the Gold Coast and pass each other every day. This is the cause of the M1 car park. – An old local

If I get one more phone call about the election I will vote informal. Sick of it. –Paul

Schoolies! Every year the organisers say this is the best behaved group we’ve had”. What a joke. Still balcony hopping and drinking to excess. An embarrassment to their parents.

I went and did my pre poll vote for Mudgeeraba OMG Ros Bates I think all those signs in a row is insanely ridiculous. I think we all know you are the member.

No information whatsoever on political bumf in the mail, only discrediting the LNP. Why not try to inform us what you have done or will do? This type of negative propaganda says far more about the sender, than the intended. Massive backfiring mistake gutless Labor!

Re Turnbull’s tax cuts for low-middle earners: it makes sense for all govts to allow us to add more to super as they want to phase out pensions. – Katz

Police on beach buggies having good time on the beach. How about sitting on the Esplanade at Surfers and booking those noisy Harley bikies harassing and annoying locals and tourists? – Zodia
