Open to get shot clocks
PLAYERS will have an additional five seconds between points at the Australian Open but time-wasters will have nowhere to hide, thanks to the introduction of shot-clocks.
Grand slam tournaments have previously allowed players 20 seconds between points but the time permitted will be increased to 25 seconds, bringing them into line with the men’s tour, the ATP.
Rather than being left to the discretion of the umpire, however, an electronic shot clock will tick down.
