-

A YOUNG mum who spent time in custody over a service station robbery just three months after she had her second baby has been sentenced to three years’ jail.

Raquel Evans, 22, and her brother Ethan Evans yesterday pleaded guilty in the Southport District Court to armed in company.

The pair were sentenced to three years jail after Raquel brandished a knife at the Caltex service station on the Gold Coast Highway at Burleigh Heads at 1.30am on July 20, 2016. Ethan, 19, threatened a robbery staff member and ran out the cash draw filled with more than $200.

Both were released on parole yesterday.

Lawyer for Ethan Evans, Brooke Winter, said the incident occurred at a “low point in his life”.
