BEST CATCH

-

CHRIS takes out the fish of the week this week with this nice bull shark from the Logan River. Although bull sharks can be caught all year it is in the summer months that they really come on the bite. They are not difficult to catch once you know where they are, which is most deep holes in our rivers and estuaries. Live bait will always work better as they have poor eyesight and rely on vibrations to locate their prey, but if they are biting they are not picky at all and you’ll definitely hook up using mullet or something similar.

I have never tried them as an eating fish but I have had good reports, just remember the smaller the better when it comes to keeping them for eating.

You are not allowed to keep any more than 1.5m. Also remember that bull sharks play an important role in the eco system so I would encourage you to enjoy the fight but catch and release. If you have a fish you’d like to share with the Gold Coast send me a photo: lbradnam@nine.com.au.
