Truck crash cripples M1

A SMASH between two Bdouble trucks on the M1 in the early hours of Saturday caused major delays throughout the day.

Drivers faced 20km of gridlock on the Pacific Motorway after all southbound lanes were closed for six hours.

The crash happened at 1am when one truck ran into the back of the other in the southbound lanes near Exit 52 at Coomera.

All lanes were reopened at 8.30am but the M1 was still heavily congested by midday.

Emergency crews worked for more than an hour to free one of the three people injured in the crash from the cabin of a truck. All three people were taken to hospital.
