COLLEGE’S END OF YEAR PARTY

-

ONE of the biggest days on Saint Stephen’s College calendar was held on the last day of term three.

Saint Stephen’s Day celebrates the founding of the college.

The students enjoyed a variety of activities, starting with a formal assembly and ending with their iconic Battle of the Bands.

The assembly was held to award 2017’s Sedés Honoris (Seat of Honour) to the students who best represented the spirit and soul of Saint Stephen’s College. The chair, carved from a Queensland blue gum, was created in 1996 by foundation parent, Bob Collins. The new college captains for 2018 were also announced and long serving teachers were acknowledged.

The next exciting event, Dash for Wings, was a timed 300m race in which juniors and seniors from each house participated in sprinting across the school courtyard, as their house mates cheered and encouraged them from the sidelines.

Next up was a tug of war, with students from primary school and high school joining on the school oval to fight for victory for their houses, Bell, Haley, Hughes and Greasley.

Then came the last and possibly most exciting part of the day – Battle of the Bands.

Throughout the term senior students gathered up their teams to create their own unforgettable performances. Students showcased their musical, dance and drama talents.

All up, it was an exciting and busy day to end an even busier term.
