Six secure shot at PGA

SIX golfers have secured their places in the Australian PGA Championsh­ips after qualifying events.

Victorian Ryan Woodward (Victoria) shot a score of 67 to win one of two qualifiers at Keperra yesterday while Christophe­r McCourt (68, Brisbane) and Alex Edge (69, NSW) also earn spots.

Andrew Schonewill­e (Victoria) won the Surfers Paradise qualifier, shooting a sevenunder 64 to win ahead of New Zealand’s Kieran Muir and NSW product Marco Zirov.

Gold Coast short-game coach Matthew Ballard, who mentors the likes of Adam Scott, shot a 71 and missed out on qualifying for Royal Pines.
