WIN WIN FOR AMY AT ARIAS
GOLD Coast singer and songwriter Amy Shark is a two-time ARIA winner after taking home awards for Breakthrough Artist and Best Pop Release at a star-studded ceremony in Sydney last night.
Shark frocked up to join a who’s who of the Australian music industry and guest presenters including Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood, Issues hitmaker Julia Michaels and Pitch Perfect 3 actors Rebel Wilson and Ruby Rose at The Star for the 31st ARIA Awards ceremony.
Shark was emotional as she received the night’s first award, for Best Pop Release, from fellow Goldie girl and Bachelorette star Sophie Monk.
“If you’re a struggling musician who feels like they’re getting nowhere, just keep going,” Shark said in a heartfelt speech in which she thanked her team for years of hard work.
Shark, who changed into jeans and t-shirt to perform her hit Adore, was up for six awards, including Album of the Year and Best Female Artist, for Night Thinker.
Gang Of Youths won four awards – including the coveted Album of the Year – while Paul Kelly also won four including Best Male Artist.
Hip hop duo A.B. Original picked up two awards, including Best Urban Album for their debut album Reclaim Australia.
