Kitsch cool in display
KITSCH holiday mementos like post cards, spoons and tea towels are the stars of the latest exhibition in the Tweed which takes a trip back in time.
The Wish You Were Here: Tokens of Travel exhibition has gathered a vast collection of travel souvenirs dating back to the early 1900s for a look back into the region’s history.
Tweed Regional Museum director Judy Kean said a majority of the items were found in local op shops or in the back of cupboards. “These massproduced, inexpensive, sometimes kitsch holiday mementos are actually valuable historic records,” Ms Kean said.
The exhibition opens next week and continues to May 28.
