Milestone for chain

POPULAR Mexican chain Guzman y Gomez has opened its 100th store in the world – here in Burleigh.

The drive-through outlet was launched yesterday with a fiesta which included serving up free burritos from noon until 8pm.

Founder and global CEO Steven Marks thanked guests and crew for their loyalty.

“Hundreds of thousands of burritos, the creativity and energy of our team, and a whole lot of love has taken GYG from one store in Newtown, where some of our first customers thought black beans were olives, to what it is today,” he said.

“This is an incredible milestone and we couldn’t have done it without our guests who support us each and every day.

“I am so proud of what we’ve achieved and there’s so much more to come as we continue to reinvent fast food for the 21st century.”
