AROUND THE COURSE

-

THERE are more hazards than just the bunkers and water at Royal Pines. Spectators may need to start bringing some armour after two fans were hit by stray golf balls in the opening round. One man was struck on the arm when Lucas Herbert hit his second shot at the night hole wide of the fairway. The spectator got more than a bruise from the incident – Herbert signed the ball and gave it to him to keep.

Gold Coaster Adam Scott was given some help during his round when his ball hit a man on the chest and stayed on the fairway as a result. GOLF can be a serious and mentally draining game, so Royal Pines staff have tried to help competitors stay relaxed during the tournament. Players have made use of a ping-pong table (pictured) positioned outside their lunch room. Many played before and after their rounds but while there were some laughs, the competitive nature of the players meant scores were counted.
