THREE HURT IN SPATE OF GOLD COAST ATTACKS

- KATE PARASKEVOS

ALL three victims of separate stabbing attacks that happened within minutes of each other across the Gold Coast yesterday all bizarrely fled the scene of the attacks, leaving police baffled.

Police are still searching for two of three victims, believed to be men, who all sustained knife wounds in the attacks before fleeing in terror.

The first stabbing happened in Saraji Street at Worongary at 5.26pm with police and ambulances called to respond to a man who had sustained knife wounds.

When authorities arrived, there was “no patient to transport” according to an ambulance spokeswoman.

The victim presented himself to hospital later last night however the alleged attacker has not been found.

The next stabbing happened at Oxley Drive at Runaway Bay behind the Zarraffa’s coffee shop.

A police spokesman said police were unable to locate the person involved and patrolled the area to find the alleged victim and attacker.

Witness Bec Matulis, who was on her work break from Zarraffa’s at the time of the attack, said she heard a man “screaming and swearing”.

“He was screaming out that he got stabbed, and was swearing and blood was literally pouring out of him so it didn’t look like a minor wound,” she said.

“We called an ambulance but he took off up Pine Ridge Road. He was literally screaming in agony.”

A third stabbing happened only minutes later at Highfield Drive, Merrimac at 5.44pm.

Police also attended the scene but the victim was nowhere to be found.

It is not known if the stabbings are related.
