Violent reaction

AN offender who became violent towards an off-duty police officer has been charged with assault.

The 27-year-old man was allegedly spraying graffiti on a pylon of the Boys Bay Bridge at Tweed Heads when an offduty officer noticed what he was doing.

When confronted by the off-duty cop, he allegedly punched and kicked the officer’s head and torso.

He has been charged with two counts of assault police and multiple graffiti offences.
