Merrimac High cleans up at $20 Boss awards

-

MERRIMAC State High School students have won an entrepreneurship award in recognition of their business – Heavenly Scent – which makes environmentally-friendly soap.

The Heavenly Scent team were recognised in the Rookie $20 category for students in Year 10-12 at the 2017 $20 Boss Awards. The awards are the culmination of the month-long in-school awards’ challenge and recognise young entrepreneurs and the schools that support them.

Established by the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA), $20 Boss aims to help young participants develop skills such as project management, budget, planning and other business skills.

Heavenly Scent is a business committed to creating an invigorating soap, that does not use ingredients that would damage the environment.

FYA boss Jan Owen (pictured) said the program is a prime example of enterprise education in action.

“Over 11,000 secondary students across more than 250 schools over Australia are participating in 2017,” she said.
