They’re not boys or girls
SCOUT leaders have been told not to call youngsters “boys” and “girls” to avoid upsetting transgender children.
New guidance from the Scout Association in the UK warns leaders to use “genderneutral” language such as “everybody” instead.
The document says children “as young as two years old can be diagnosed with gender dysphoria”, the belief that they are born the wrong sex.
It comes amid a wider trend for organisations to accommodate the needs of transgender people. The guidelines warn leaders not to split up children by gender.
